HBLEDs don't turn on, the rest is fine

Hi,

I’ve managed to solder everything, the board turns on as I press the button and sound works fine (using barlow font for now). I tried with both 700mA and 1000mA for the hbleds in the config.

But the LEDs don’t turn on: I have tried switching them, but I don’t really know where to start to troubleshoot this. Having looked quite a bit through the forum, I haven’t found much to direct me and although I have already done a few electronics projects, this one is slightly stretching my abilities…

hbleds are from Cree, I soldered anode on + and cathode on -:
LED 1 (red): XPEBRD-L1-0000-00501 LED, HB, ROSSO, 3W, 56.8LM
LED 2 (blue): XPEBBL-L1-0000-00301 LED, HB, BLU, 3W, 45.7LM
LED 3 (green): XPEBGR-L1-0000-00E01 LED, SMD, XLAMP, XPE-E, VERDE,

Would you have suggestions? I have a multimeter so I can check for shorts etc…

Comment on the pictures: I have soldered the small connectors so that I wouldn’t risk shorting stuff with consecutive resolderings directly on the board. The white plastic is to (temporarily) insulate the LED connections from eachother.

Thank you,
Georges

Hello @g.delajoux,

What is the value for blade_type in the configuration file? It should be hbled.

Please double check the polarity of the LEDs is correct. Also can can try with a fixed power supply? I am not sure if and for how long can AA batteries sustainably drain >3A.
